Setting up a WLAN connection under Linux (eduroam)
Notes:
To access the wireless network of the University of Bamberg, you must have a valid user account (BA number + password).
Members of other universities or research institutions that participate in eduroam (DFN roaming) can also use the eduroam network at the University of Bamberg. If the login does not work, please contact your home institution to find out about special features for using eduroam.
These instructions refer to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. The procedure is the same for other distributions, only the appearance and the input commands differ from these instructions.
Notice:
You must use the easyroam app to obtain a stable and secure connection to the WLAN with the SSID eduroam.
Set up with easyroam
Install easyroam app
Open the app store, enter easyroam in the search field and install the software package.
Please note!
If the easyroam app cannot be found in the app store, please check whether updates are available for the operating system and install them.
Register and set up the easyroam app

Start the easyroam app and log in (an active internet connection is required).
Enter Bamberg in the search field and select the University of Bamberg. You can then log in via Shibboleth with your BA number and the corresponding password.
Figure 1 shows the search mask for selecting the University of Bamberg.

Click Install new profile under Home in the easyroam app and close the pop-up window by clicking Confirm.
Figure 2 shows the easyroam app after successful login with the Install profile marker.

The profile is created and should now be displayed as Valid. The creation date, validity period and serial number are displayed.
Figure 3 shows the successfully created profile.
After successful setup, you can close the easyroam app and connect to the eduroam WLAN.
