Building Bridges, Bridging Gaps: "Encounters and Interactions: Linguistic, Cultural and Literary Perspectives"

Friday, 10 July, 9 am

MG1/01.02 (without registration)

contact: maeas.englit(at)uni-bamberg.de

For students of the MA English and American Studies (both tracks) as well as English-speaking students from the humanities interested in an academic career

“Encounters and Interactions” invites reflection on the relational dimensions of our disciplines in the broadest sense— the ways in which meaning is produced through contact, translation and exchange across regions, media and disciplinary boundaries. We are also interested in encounters and interactions within our core disciplines, for example intercultural encounters, language contact and varieties of English, inter-generational and gendered interactions, adaptations and re-writings, and class conflicts, to name but a few examples.

The conference starts on 10 July at 9am with a keynote from Prof. Dr. Katrin R?der (Dortmund) with the topic “Between Clinic and Cosmos: Mental Distress in Contemporary Indian Anglophone Autobiography”.
