What does a leave of absence mean for me?

  • Even when applying for a semester on leave, the student services fee and the fee for the semester public transport ticket must be paid!
  • With the exception of the obligation to pursue studies in accordance with standard regulations, the student's rights and obligations remain unaffected during the period of the leave of absence.
  • During your leave of absence, you are still a member of the university and are therefore entitled to use its facilities and to vote in university elections.
  • Participation in courses is not possible during the leave of absence (exception: leave of absence due to maternity/parental leave and/or care for close relatives) - Art. 93 p. 3 s. 1 BayHIG.
