Error message "Fehler 218"
When using your card, the error message ¡°Fehler 218 Eingaberichtung¡± appears on the terminal screen.
This means that your card is defective/damaged and must be replaced. To determine whether the malfunction is technical, please send your card and a brief explanation via internal university post to Z/IS - ServiceCard Team or contact us by email to arrange to come by our office.
Error message "Fehler 448"
If the error message ¡°Fehler 448 L?schkarte¡± is displayed when using your card, this means that a transaction between your card and a terminal (e.g. photocopier, EC top-up machine, cah top-up machine, etc.) was not completed correctly. This can happen if your card was removed from the card slot too soon. Your card will be blocked and all payment functions will no longer be available.
To unblock your card, you must reinsert it into the last terminal at which it was still working. First, insert your card into any photocopying terminal. The terminal will now display an error message in the form of a sequence of numbers. This number shows you where the terminal you need to go to is located. A list of terminal numbers is available here(254.5 KB) (german only). Reinsterting your chip card into this terminal should unblock the card.
If your card is still blocked after doing this, or if the terminal was removed (is inactive), please contact the Studierendenwerk W¨¹rzburg for help. You can also unblock your card at the tills of University of Bamberg's dining halls und cafeterias.
Functions of the student ID card
The student ID card serves as:
- a semester ticket - information can be found here,
- a wallet with payment function (canteen, cafeteria, making copies and printing),
- an ID card for library use,
- access to branch libraries 2 and 5, as well as the ERBA library and the Lernraum24 study room in branch library 4 outside of staffed hours,
- use of cloakroom lockers in branch libraries 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Validity
After initial registration and each re-registration, you must update your student ID card at a validation station. This will print the new semester's information and validity date onto the chip. Without this validation, your student ID card is not valid.
Use as a library card
The library activates the chip card for use as a library card.
The ba number and corresponding password serve as the login for the Bamberg catalogue (OPAC).
Validate
Please do not remove the card prematurely or by force during the validation process. The instructions on the display will guide you through the process step by step.
Validation stations are permanently located:
- in the large stairwell at Markusplatz 3 in front of TB2
- in the entrance area of TB4 at Heumarkt 2
- in the entrance area of TB3 at Feldkirchenstra?e 21
- At Weberei 5 (ERBA), in the entrance hall, next to the lift.
Loss
The loss of the card must be reported immediately by email. To prevent misuse, the card will be blocked and can no longer be used, including in the library.
Unfortunately, the remaining balance on a lost card cannot be paid out.
If you have found your card again, it can only be unblocked if you have not applied for a replacement card. The card can only be unblocked by the cardholder themselves. Please send the request by email via your university email account so that you can be clearly identified as the authorised cardholder. We will then unblock the card immediately.
Campusprint central printing and scanning services
The student ID card is a personal card and is therefore linked to your personal BA number (your personal student email address). This means that the campusprint system only works in conjunction with your chip card and personal login details.
You can use your student ID card to make copies, print documents and scan documents on the university's photocopiers. To do this, the card must have a minimum balance of €0.80.
A list of the multifunction devices currently available can be found here. Please note that not all devices are activated for the wallet.
Further information on campusprint can be found on the computer centre's website at www.uni-bamberg.de/campusprint/.
